“Ideally the client shouldn’t feel like their home has been decorated but that it is an extension of their character; that it provides effortless comfort, joy and inspiration from which to get on with the business of life.… and just as our characters and lives are made up of layers – of experience and memory – the same goes for decoration..”
~ Lucy Hammond Giles
Following graduation from Edinburgh University with an MA in History of Art, time misspent in the television industry, and establishing her own design practice, Lucy has worked for Sibyl Colefax & John Fowler since joining in 2004, training under Emma Burns and Wendy Nicholls.
Inspired by the expertise and enthusiasm of colleagues, craftsmen and clients, Lucy is comfortable working in a variety of styles across a wide ranging portfolio. Understanding her clients and interpreting their hopes for their homes, she translates her brief into beautiful spaces with the lightest of touches, fluently blending style with practicality.
Lucy is retained by clients both in the UK and abroad. While many of her clients choose to keep their homes private, Lucy’s work has been published in The World of Interiors, Homes & Garden and House & Garden. Her collaborative approach can be seen to outstanding effect on recent projects including private houses in London and around the UK, Europe and America, and offices in Saville Row, Mayfair.
Lucy Hammond Giles was voted House & Garden’s Interior Designer of the Year 2023.
